Springfield, Missouri document errands: printing, fax, notary, passports and certified copies (2026)
Where to print, fax, notarize, apply for a passport and get certified copies in Springfield, Missouri, using only official and provider pages. Each fact links to its source. Some facts are statewide or national rather than local. We label those.
Printing, copying, scanning and fax
Springfield-Greene County Library
- Prints and copies: provided at each branch. Letter and legal size are 10¢ a page in black and white and 50¢ in color; 11 x 17 is 20¢ in black and white and $1.00 in color. You can use your own paper, but the price is the same [4].
- Mobile printing: upload a file or email it to your branch's print address, then release and pay at the print station. Black-and-white printouts are 10¢ and color 50¢, cash only. Password-protected sites and documents won't print [10].
- Fax: The Library Center and The Library Station list a self-service fax at 50¢ per page, cash, credit or debit, send only [5][6].
- Scanning: both branch pages say copies can be scanned to a USB drive; bring your own or buy one at the branch for $5 [5][6].
- The UPS Store: it lists 5 locations in Springfield: 334 E Kearney, (417) 863-7877; 2733 East Battlefield Rd, (417) 889-0902; 1325 W Sunshine, (417) 863-6644; 610-A E Battlefield, (417) 886-2455; and 4319 South National, (417) 887-1991. Its city page says they offer packing, shipping, printing, shredding, notarizing, faxing and mailbox services [11]. We didn't find prices on the store pages; The UPS Store's site says products, services, prices and hours may vary by location [12].
- Where the UPS stores are: the Census Geocoder places the first four stores above inside Springfield city, in Greene County; it couldn't match 4319 South National [13].

Notary in Springfield
- Library ($5 per signature): "Notary service is $5 per signature." Certified copies are $3 for one, or $5 per visit for multiple. There's no charge to notarize absentee election ballots. Bring a valid photo ID and your own witnesses if needed, and don't sign until you're with the notary. More than 15 signatures or 15 certified copies needs a separate appointment on another day. Library notaries can't notarize Form I-9 [7].
- Which branches (the page lists two sets): the notary page says service is at The Library Center, The Library Station and Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library, but its phone list adds Midtown Carnegie Branch: Library Center (417) 883-5341, Library Station (417) 865-1340, Midtown Carnegie (417) 862-0135 and Schweitzer Brentwood (417) 616-0706 [7]. Call before you go.
- The UPS Store: its Springfield page lists notarizing [11].
- Fee limits (statewide): Missouri law caps what a notary may charge: $5 per signature for an acknowledgment, a jurat or a signature witnessing, and $1 per page for a certified copy, with a $3 minimum. A notary may charge less or nothing, may add a travel fee only if you agree to it in advance, and may not charge to notarize an absentee ballot or absentee voter registration. A notary who charges must display or hand you a fee schedule [14][15].

Birth, death, marriage, court and recorded-document copies
Birth and death certificates: Missouri DHSS (statewide)
- Fees (statewide): the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) lists $15 for a birth certificate and $14 for a death certificate, with $11 for each additional copy of the same death record ordered at the same time. Each fee covers a five-year search and one certified copy if the record is found; it isn't refunded if no record is found. A statement of marriage, divorce or single status from the state is $15 [19][20].
- Local offices (statewide): local public health agencies charge the same birth and death fees as the state, but hold only births from 1920 on and deaths from 1980 on. Certified marriage and divorce records come from the office that issued them, which sets its own fee [20].
- Who can order (statewide): Missouri vital records aren't open to the public; state law allows a certified copy only for a person with "a direct and tangible interest in the record" [19]. In person, bring ID; by mail, the application must be notarized and include a self-addressed stamped envelope. The state office is the Bureau of Vital Records, 930 Wildwood Dr., Jefferson City [21]. DHSS says it charges no extra administrative fee, but VitalChek, its online vendor, adds a processing fee [22].
Birth and death certificates: Springfield-Greene County Health Department
- Where: the Vital Records office, 227 E. Chestnut Expressway, Springfield, MO 65802; 417-864-1658. It can issue birth and death certificates for most births from 1920 on for any county in Missouri [9].
- Birth certificates: $15.00 per copy. In person, you get short-form certificates only, printed while you wait; bring the application, a government-issued photo ID and payment (cash, check, money order or credit card). Long-form certificates are by mail with a notarized application to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in Jefferson City. You can also order through VitalChek, where fees and delivery times vary [9].
- Death certificates: $14.00 for the first copy and $11.00 for each additional copy of the same record on the same visit, in person or by mail. In person, pay by cash, check, money order or credit card. If you aren't a relative, bring legal documentation of your connection to the person who died [9].
Marriage licenses: Greene County Recorder of Deeds
- Where: 940 N Boonville Ave, Room 102, Springfield, MO 65802, Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except holidays. Both applicants come in person with ID and Social Security number [2].
- Fee: $53.00, or $62 for the license plus a certified copy, cash or card; cards carry a convenience fee. No refunds [2][23].
- Rules: there's no waiting period. The license is valid for 30 days from issue and can be used anywhere in Missouri, and it must be picked up before the ceremony. Applicants must be at least 18. If you were divorced less than 30 days ago, you can still apply if you acknowledge in writing that the divorce can be appealed or set aside within 30 days. The officiant returns the license within 15 days after the wedding [2].
- Copies: a certified copy is $9.00 for a license bought in Greene County, in person (cash or card), by phone with a card, or by mail with a cashier's check or money order to Recorder of Deeds and a self-addressed stamped envelope [2][23].
- Statewide rules: under RSMo 451.040, both applicants sign the application in front of the recorder of deeds or a deputy, or through an approved online process, and the license is "void after thirty days from the date of issuance." We didn't find a waiting period in the statute. Common-law marriages are void in Missouri [24]. RSMo 451.151 adds a $20 state fee to every license and $7 to every certified copy, which are included in county totals [25].
Recorded documents: Greene County Recorder of Deeds
- Recording: real estate documents are $26.00 for the first page and $3.00 for each additional page; include a postage-paid envelope or postage for mail-back. Plats and surveys up to 18" x 24" are $46.00 for the first page and $25.00 for each additional page [23].
- Copies: $1.00 a page for recorded documents, $5.00 for plats, and $1.00 to certify a document [23].
- Recording fees (statewide): RSMo 59.310 sets the recorder's own fee at $5 for the first page and $3 for each page after that, and caps copies of recorded documents at $2 for the first page and $1 for each page after that, plus $1 for a certificate and seal [26]. County fee tables are higher than that base fee, so use the county's posted total.
Court copies: Greene County Circuit Clerk (31st Judicial Circuit)
- Fees: regular copies are 25¢ a page; certified copies are 25¢ a page plus $3.00 per document; authenticated copies are 25¢ a page plus $6.00 per document. Mailing the records back adds $1.00, or send a self-addressed stamped envelope [3].
- How: in person or by mail at the Circuit Clerk's Office, 1010 N. Boonville Ave, Springfield, MO 65802, or by email to gre.copyrequest@courts.mo.gov. The usual turnaround is 5–7 business days. Pay by cash, cashier's check, money order, card (a third-party fee applies) or business check; no personal checks. Some case types require photo ID. Questions: (417) 868-4074 [3].
- Statewide: we didn't find a statewide circuit court copy fee schedule; each Missouri circuit posts its own.
Apostilles (statewide)
- Who: the Missouri Secretary of State issues certifications (for notaries), authentications (for recorders of deeds, circuit clerks, judges, county clerks and the State Registrar) and apostilles for countries in the Hague Convention. The country where you will use the document decides which certificate you get [27].
- Which copy: a birth certificate must be a certified copy from the state Bureau of Vital Records; a marriage license, a certified copy from the recorder of deeds of the county of the marriage (or a state statement of marriage); a divorce decree, a certified copy from the circuit clerk [27].
- Fee: $10 per certification or authentication. One document with several notarizations by the same notary is $10; several documents are $10 each; one document notarized by different notaries is $10 per notary. Checks and money orders go to the Secretary of State's Office; Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover payments add a convenience fee [27].
- How: mail the original document with the cover letter to Commissions, Secretary of State's Office, 600 West Main, Room 322, Jefferson City, MO 65101. Documents come back by regular mail unless you include a prepaid envelope or air bill. Phone (573) 751-2783 or toll-free (866) 223-6535 [27][28]. We didn't find walk-in service or processing times on the page.
