Minot, North Dakota document errands: printing, fax, notary, passports and certified copies (2026)
Where to print, fax, notarize, apply for a passport and get certified copies in Minot, North Dakota, using only official and provider pages. Each fact links to its source. Some facts are statewide or national rather than local. We label those.
Printing, copying, scanning and fax
Minot Public Library
- Prints and copies: 15 cents per page for black and white and 50 cents per page for color. The public copier takes change or dollar bills. Every computer user gets one free black-and-white print per day; other printing is prepaid by adding value to your library card or guest pass at the Circulation Desk [1]. The library announced these prices as part of increases starting August 1, 2026 [2].
- Print from your device: wireless printing through the Princh service, using printer code 109233 [1].
- Scan: black-and-white and color scanning to a USB drive, or to a folder the library's computers can reach, is free for all visitors [1].
- Other: lamination is 50 cents per pouch, letter size or smaller. Roll printing is $2.00 per foot of a 24-inch-wide roll, by request form [1].
- Fax: we didn't find fax service on the library pages we checked. Call 701-852-1045 to ask.
- Computers: you need a library card and PIN. Visitors without a card get a free 20-minute guest pass once a day, or a $2.00 daily guest pass. Computers are unavailable 10 minutes before closing [1].
- Location and hours: 516 2nd Ave SW, Minot, ND 58701, 701-852-1045. Mon–Thu 9 a.m.–8 p.m., Fri–Sat 10 a.m.–5 p.m., closed Sunday [1].
The UPS Store
The UPS Store #1423, 1940 S Broadway in Marketplace Food Plaza, (701) 838-7870, lists copies and documents, faxing and scanning, notary, passport photos and shredding [25]. We didn't find prices or store hours on the store page.
See printing prices and fax prices.
Notary in Minot
- Library: we didn't find notary service on the Minot Public Library pages we checked. Call 701-852-1045 to ask.
- The UPS Store: #1423 lists notary service [25]. We didn't find its notary hours or price.
- Fees (statewide): North Dakota law says a notary "is entitled to charge and receive not more than five dollars per notarial act." A notary may also charge a travel fee, or a technology fee for an electronic or remote notarization, if you agree to it in advance and the notary explains that it's separate from the notarial fee and not required by law [16][17]. That's lower than Wyoming's and Arizona's $10 caps and matches Nebraska's $5 acknowledgment cap. South Dakota and Kansas have no dollar cap.
- ID (statewide): the Secretary of State lists a valid driver's license, non-driver ID or passport, with a name that matches the document, or a credible witness [17].
- Remote notarization (statewide): North Dakota allows remote notarization over a recorded audio-video session. With a paper document, only an acknowledgment is allowed and the signer sends the signed document to the notary within 3 days. With an electronic document, oaths, acknowledgments and witnessing are allowed [18].
Passports in Minot
The U.S. Department of State's Passport Acceptance Facility Locator data lists two Minot facilities [3]:
| Facility | Address and phone | Passport hours (locator) | Photos |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ward County Recorder | 225 3rd St. SE, Minot, ND 58701. 701-857-6411 | Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. The locator notes photocopy services. | Listed as on site, but the county's own page says its office doesn't take passport photos |
| Minot Post Office (USPS) | 117 5th Ave. SW, Minot, ND 58701. The locator's phone entry has too many digits, so we left it out. | Mon–Fri 10 a.m.–3 p.m., Sat 10–11 a.m. | Not listed |
- Ward County Recorder: walk-in passport applications Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–4 p.m., no appointments. Arrive by 4 p.m. The office can't accept renewal applications (Form DS-82); renewals are mailed by the applicant. Don't sign the application until you're in the office. Bring one passport photo, which the office doesn't provide [8][7].
- Paying at the county: the $35 county fee can be paid by cashier's check, money order, cash or credit card (with a small convenience fee), but not by personal check. The State Department payment must be a cashier's check, money order or personal check, not cash or a card [8].
- Post office: the locator says to schedule a passport appointment or view more acceptance times at usps.com/scheduler [3].
- Post office fees (national): a $35.00 acceptance fee and a $15.00 photo fee "if needed" [4].
- Faster service (national): the State Department's 1–3 business day return delivery is $26.87, for passport books only [5].
- Return shipping: the Ward County page lists $23.36 for express shipping [8]. That doesn't match the State Department's $26.87 fee for 1–3 business day return delivery (national), so go by the State Department's figure.
- Photos elsewhere: The UPS Store #1423 lists passport photos [25]. We didn't find its price.

- By mail: form SFN 8140 lists $15 per copy by check or money order payable to ND DHHS, with optional FedEx return shipping for $25 or UPS for $30. Certified copies can't be faxed or emailed [13]. Mailed copies usually go out in 3 to 5 business days, and requests with FedEx or UPS return shipping are processed the next business day [11].
- Online: the state's own secure online ordering application, which it calls its fastest method [11]. We didn't find any online processing fee on the pages we checked.
Marriage licenses and certified marriage copies: Ward County Recorder
- License fee: $65 in cash; no checks or credit cards [9]. State law sets a license fee of up to $30 plus a $35 supplemental fee for the domestic violence prevention fund (statewide) [19].

If either of you was divorced, bring a certified copy of the most recent divorce decree from the clerk of court where you divorced; the office keeps it. Applicants 16 or 17 need a signed, notarized parental consent form [9]. Arrive by 4 p.m. [7].
- Which county (statewide): the license must be issued no more than 60 days before the wedding, by the county where either of you or a parent lives, or where the marriage will take place [19].
- Certified copies: request by mail with both names and the date of marriage, paid in advance: $8 for marriages filed before Dec. 31, 1994, or $6 for marriages filed after Jan. 1, 1995 [9]. The state's county list gives the Ward County Recorder, PO Box 5005, Minot, ND 58702, (701) 857-6410 [14].

Public parking is in the lot west of the courthouse entrance [6]. Divorce decree copies come from the clerk in the county where the divorce was granted [15].
- Fees (statewide): the court fee schedule, effective July 1, 2025, lists $20 for a certified copy of a judgment, order or other paper, and $10 for additional copies of the same document. "There is no per page charge for a certified copy. There is no fee for electronic copies." Plain copies are $.10 per page and outgoing faxes $.25 per page. Civil or criminal record searches are $10 per name [21].
- Online search (statewide): the court system's Case Search lets you search district court records anywhere in the state by name, citation number or case number. Asking only whether a record exists is an exception to the $10 search fee [22]. We didn't find a fee for the online search on that page.
Apostilles (statewide)
The North Dakota Secretary of State in Bismarck charges $10 per authentication plus $5 per record search, with one search for each different notary signature. Requests are usually processed within 3 business days and returned by first-class mail unless you include a prepaid label. You can stop by during business hours with no appointment needed, though the office encourages calling (701) 328-2900 to make one [23].
