Printing, copying, scanning and fax
Lafayette Public Library (LPL)
- Printing from public computers: the first 5 black-and-white pages are free; after that, black and white is 10¢ a page. Color is 25¢ a page, with no free color pages. Paper is letter size only, and each print job is limited to $10.00 (200 pages), though you can print several jobs [1].
- Color printers: at the Main, North Regional, South Regional, East Regional, West Regional and Chenier libraries; the other branches print in black and white [1].
- Copying and fax: the South Regional Library page says public printing and copying are available for a small per-page fee and outgoing fax service is available [8]. We didn't find the copy or fax price. The Main Library page doesn't mention copying or fax [9].
- Scanning: we didn't find scanning details on the LPL pages we checked.
- Main Library Downtown: 301 West Congress Street, Lafayette, LA 70501; information (337) 261-5787 [9]. South Regional Library: 6101 Johnston St., Lafayette, LA 70503; 337-981-1028. Its page describes a renovation estimated to run from November 2024 to early 2026 that may interrupt service in parts of the building [8]. The Census Geocoder places both inside Lafayette city [10]. The North, East and West regional libraries have Carencro, Youngsville and Scott addresses. Current hours are on the library's hours page [11].
- The UPS Store: it lists 3 locations in Lafayette: 2851 Johnston St, (337) 232-2442; 139 James Comeaux Rd, Ste. B, (337) 233-2139; and 4400 Ambassador Caffery, Ste. A, (337) 988-2820. Its city page says they offer packing, shipping, printing, shredding, notarizing, faxing and mailbox services [12]. We didn't find prices on the store pages; The UPS Store's site says products, services, prices and hours may vary by location [13].
See printing prices and fax prices.
Notary in Lafayette
- Library: we didn't find notary service on the Lafayette Public Library's services page [14].
- The UPS Store: its Lafayette page lists notarizing [12].
- Fees (statewide): the Louisiana Secretary of State says Louisiana "does not have a statutory fee schedule which would determine or limit what a notary can charge for his services." Ask for the price before the notary starts [15].
- How Louisiana notaries differ (statewide): the Secretary of State says a Louisiana notary's signature is his seal, notaries are commissioned for life, and each is commissioned in the parish where they live; reciprocal parish groups set by law let a notary work in neighboring parishes. Attorney-notaries have statewide notarial powers. Its Notary Database lists contact information for all notaries [15].
