Printing, copying, scanning and fax
Knox County Public Library
- Printing and copying: 15¢ a page black and white, 25¢ a page color, self-service. Double-sided printing and copying isn't supported. Every location has a black-and-white photocopier; Lawson McGhee Library also has a color copier. The copier vending machines take $1 and $5 bills, quarters, dimes and nickels [1].
- From your own device: you can send a print job from your phone, tablet or laptop (by web upload, email or the ePRINTit app), then pay and pick it up at Lawson McGhee or any branch. Same prices [8].
- Fax: four branches offer fax: Carter, Corryton, Howard Pinkston and Mascot. Sending is 50¢ a page locally or $1.00 a page long distance, and receiving is 50¢ a page, with no charge for a cover sheet. Call the branch first [9]. None of the four is downtown. The Census Geocoder places Carter (9036 Asheville Hwy.) and Pinkston (7732 Martin Mill Pike) outside Knoxville city limits [10][11], and Corryton and Mascot have their own mailing addresses [10].
- Scanning: we didn't find scanner prices on the library pages we read.
- Lawson McGhee Library (main): 500 W. Church Ave., (865) 215-8750. Sunday 1 to 5 p.m., Monday–Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. [10]. The Census Geocoder places it in Knoxville [11].
- The UPS Store: it lists 9 open locations with Knoxville addresses. Its city page says its stores offer packing, shipping, printing, shredding, notarizing, faxing and mailbox services [12]. We didn't find prices on the store pages; The UPS Store's site says products, services, prices and hours may vary by location [13]. The Census Geocoder places 5 of the 9 inside Knoxville, one in Farragut (11124 Kingston Pike), and 3 outside any city (6923 Maynardville Pike, 448 N. Cedar Bluff Rd. and 10629 Hardin Valley Rd.) [12][11].

Notary in Knoxville
- Knox County Public Library: it doesn't offer notary service. It suggests checking with your bank, some UPS Store locations or other shipping stores [2].
- Knox County Clerk (ending): the Clerk's page says it notarizes documents for $3.00 with a government-issued photo ID, but that after October 31, 2026 it will no longer offer this service [14]. Don't plan on it.
- The UPS Store: its Knoxville page lists notarizing [12].
- Becoming a notary in Knox County: apply online, or mail or bring the completed, notarized application with a $12.00 fee payable to "Knox County Clerk". The Clerk can notarize your signature on the application for $5.00 more. After the County Commission elects you and the Secretary of State sets your commission dates, you buy a $10,000 surety bond, take the oath and file the bond at a Clerk's office; the filing fee is $2.00. Notary Division: (865) 215-3619 [14]. The Clerk's offices all handle notary applications [15].
- How notaries are commissioned (statewide): in Tennessee you apply through your County Clerk, are elected by the county commission, buy a surety bond, and then pick up the commission the Secretary of State sends back to the County Clerk [16]. A term is four years [17].
- Fees (statewide law): the Secretary of State quotes Tenn. Code Ann. § 8-21-1201: notaries "are entitled to demand and receive reasonable fees and compensation" [18]. We didn't find a fixed maximum on that page, so ask for the price before the notary starts.
