Kansas City, Kansas document errands: printing, fax, notary, passports and certified copies (2026)
Where to print, fax, notarize, apply for a passport and get certified copies in Kansas City, Kansas, using only official and provider pages. Each fact links to its source. Some facts are statewide or national rather than local. We label those. Kansas City, Kansas and Wyandotte County share one government, the Unified Government, and most of the offices below are in the Wyandotte County Courthouse downtown.
Printing, copying, scanning and fax
Kansas City, Kansas Public Library
- Main Library: 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS 66101, (913) 295-8250. Open Mon–Thu 9 a.m.–9 p.m., Fri–Sat 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sun 1–5 p.m. Parking is behind the library off Ann Avenue [1].
- Printing and copying: 10 cents per page for black-and-white prints and copies and 50 cents per page for color prints where available. Main has a black-and-white printer, a color printer and two photocopiers [1][2].
- Where you can copy: copiers are at Main, Mr. & Mrs. F. L. Schlagle, South Branch and West Wyandotte. Ask at the front desk about options and payment [2].
- Remote printing: you can email a file to a branch print address or print from a web browser, for pickup at Main, South, Turner or West Wyandotte [2].
- Computers: library computers need a valid ID or library card; staff may allow a guest pass. You get 60 minutes the first time you sign in each day, up to 3 hours if computers aren't full. Work can't be saved to the hard drive [3].
- Main Library rebuild: on October 28, 2025 the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education approved demolishing the existing Main Library to build a new one on the same site [1]. We didn't find a closing date. Check before you go.
- Scanning and fax: we didn't find scanning or fax service on the library's pages [1][2]. That doesn't mean it's unavailable, so call to ask.
The UPS Store
The UPS Store #5841, 10940 Parallel Pkwy, Ste K, Kansas City, KS 66109, (913) 299-3200, lists faxing, shredding and notary services. Its page lists hours of Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–6:30 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.–3 p.m. and Sun 10 a.m.–3 p.m. [17]. We didn't find prices on its page. It's the only UPS Store the company lists in Kansas City, Kansas [17].

Notary in Kansas City, Kansas
- Library: we didn't find notary service on the library's pages [1][2].
- The UPS Store: the Parallel Pkwy store lists notary service [17]. We didn't find its notary hours or price.
- Documents you'll record: the Register of Deeds rejects documents whose notary certificate lacks the full date, the notary's commission expiration date, the state and county where the act took place, or the notary's seal, or has blanks left in it [12].
- Fees (statewide): the Kansas Secretary of State says "State law does not prohibit a notary from charging a fee for a notarial act." We didn't find a dollar limit in its notary page or handbook. Under K.A.R. 7-43-16 a fee must be disclosed to you and agreed to before the notarization, you must be told that the fee is permitted but not required by state law, and it must be collected at the time and recorded in the notary's journal [13][14]. Other states we cover set dollar caps instead: Nebraska's $5 acknowledgment cap, Utah's $10 per signature, Wyoming's $10 per notarial act and Colorado's $15 per document. Ask the price before you start.
- Spouses (statewide): a Kansas notary may not notarize a record in which the notary or the notary's spouse is a party or has a direct financial or beneficial interest [13][14]. We didn't find a broader Kansas rule on other relatives on the pages we checked.
- ID and journal (statewide): a notary may accept a driver's license, passport or other government ID that expired not more than three years before the notarization, and since January 1, 2022 Kansas notaries must keep a journal [13].
- Banks (national policy): Bank of America says notary service is available "at no cost to our customers" and "in many of our financial centers." Schedule an appointment. All signers must be present [15]. We didn't check which Kansas City, Kansas branches offer it. For other banks, see free notary options.

- Self Help Center: forms for people without a lawyer, (913) 573-2813, 8 a.m.–noon and 1–5 p.m. An attorney from Kansas Legal Services is there Wednesdays 9 a.m.–4 p.m. [9].
