Notary in Jonesboro
- Library (free): the library provides free basic notary services [3]. Its pages differ on how to get one: the notary page says to call (870) 935-5133, ext. 9968, for availability and hours [3], while the FAQ says free walk-in notary service is offered every day until 15 minutes before closing [2]. Confirm with the office before you go. Notary service ends 15 minutes before closing [3].
- What to bring: a physical, valid government-issued photo ID that exactly matches the signer's name, and unsigned, completed documents in English or Spanish with a jurat or acknowledgment. Bring your own witnesses if needed [3].
- What the library won't notarize: real estate documents (including refinances and quitclaim deeds), wills, I-9 and other employment eligibility or Homeland Security forms, documents in a language other than English, and auto titles without the buyer's name and address [3].
- Fees (statewide): Arkansas sets no dollar amount. The Secretary of State's 2025 Notary Handbook says Arkansas notaries "are not required to charge for their services"; if a notary does charge, the amount must be reasonable and disclosed to and agreed upon by both you and the notary before the notarial act, citing A.C.A. § 21-6-309. The same rule applies to electronic notaries [10].
- ID and records (statewide): the handbook says Arkansas law doesn't specify "acceptable" identification and recommends a current ID card with the signer's picture and signature. The law doesn't require notaries to keep a journal, though the handbook recommends one [10].

You can submit by mail or in person, and either office can help if you have both kinds [22].
- Which copy: a notarized photocopy of a birth certificate isn't accepted; it must be the original or a certified copy from ADH Vital Records. Immigration, citizenship and U.S. Department of State documents can't be apostilled by the state [22].
- Payment and return: cash, check or money order to the Arkansas Secretary of State; Business & Commercial Services also takes cards, but the Elections Division doesn't. You don't need a return envelope unless you want express return, which needs a prepaid air bill [22].
