Evansville, Indiana document errands: printing, fax, notary, passports and certified copies (2026)
Where to print, fax, notarize, apply for a passport and get certified copies in Evansville, Indiana, using only official and provider pages. Each fact links to its source. Some facts are statewide or national rather than local. We label those.

We didn't find prices: the E Indiana St store page doesn't list any [12], and The UPS Store's site says products, services, prices and hours may vary by location [13]. The Census Geocoder places the E Indiana St store in Evansville city; it places 5625 Pearl Dr in Vanderburgh County outside any city or town [11][10].
See printing prices and fax prices.
Notary in Evansville
- EVPL (free): notary service at no charge at EVPL Central, McCollough, North Park, Oaklyn, Stringtown and West; you don't need a library card. Library notaries won't notarize documents not in English, I-9 forms, real estate transactions, auto titles, corporate or business documents, or depositions, among others [1].
- The UPS Store: its Evansville page lists notarizing [11]. We didn't find prices.

- Fees (statewide law): Indiana Code caps notary fees at "not more than ten dollars ($10) per signature" for acknowledgments, oaths and affirmations, witnessing a signature, verifications and certifying a copy. Fees for other acts are negotiable. A notary who charges must display a list of fees in advance. A travel fee is allowed up to the federal GSA travel rate. Public officials and their deputies may not charge for notarial acts done as part of official business [14].
- Remote notarization (statewide law): a remote notary may charge "not more than twenty-five dollars ($25) for each remote notarial act" [14].

The State Department's fee page lists 1–3 business day return delivery at $26.87, for passport books only [17]. We couldn't re-read the State Department page on Oct 31, 2026, because it blocked our check. Confirm the fee with the acceptance facility before you pay.

The sources differ; call (812) 435-2400 before you go [4]. The Census Geocoder places the office in Evansville city [10].
- County fees: $16.00 per certified birth certificate [4]. $20.00 per certified death certificate if the person who died was a Vanderburgh County resident, $25.00 if not, and $18.00 for a non-certified copy, which can't be used for legal purposes [18].
- State fees, side by side: the Indiana Department of Health lists $10.00 for a birth certificate and $8.00 for a death certificate (statewide) [8]. The county and the state list different prices; check with the office you order from.
- How to pay: in person: cash, check, U.S. money order, debit or credit card, Apple Pay or Cash App. By mail: check or U.S. money order (no cash). Online: debit or credit card [4].
- By mail: use the online form and choose mail delivery; you get an emailed invoice once the record is found [4]. The office says it turns mail requests around in 3–5 business days and mailing takes 2–3 weeks [19].
- Other counties: the office says it can issue birth certificates from other Indiana counties [19].
- ID and eligibility: bring one item from the primary ID list or two from the secondary list, and you must have a "direct interest" in the record [19].
Birth and death certificates (statewide)
- State fees (statewide): the Indiana Department of Health charges $10.00 for a birth certificate and $4.00 for each extra copy in the same order, and $8.00 for a death certificate and $4.00 for each extra copy. Fees aren't refunded and don't include third-party fees for online or phone orders [8]. Local health departments set their own fees; see the county fees above.
- In person (statewide): the state office has no walk-in service. To buy a certificate in person, go to the local health department in the county where the birth or death happened [8][20].
- By mail, online or by phone from the state (statewide): mail State Form 49607 (birth) or 49606 (death) with a check or money order payable to the Indiana Department of Health (no cash). Online orders go through VitalChek, and phone orders through (866) 601-0891, with third-party fees [8].
- Processing times (statewide): the state lists 2–3 weeks for a standard birth certificate, 6–8 weeks for a long-form birth certificate and 60 days for a death certificate [8]. Its home page says to allow 2 weeks for an order to reach the office and 10–15 business days to process it [20]. The long-form birth certificate is only available from the state [21].
- Who can order (statewide): you need a direct interest, a documented financial or legal interest, or a close family tie (parent, adult sibling or grandparent) to the person named on the record [21].
Marriage licenses (Vanderburgh County Clerk)
- Marriage licenses (statewide): in Indiana, the county clerk issues marriage licenses. Both of you apply in person at the clerk's office in an Indiana county where one of you lives; couples from out of state apply in the county where they will marry. The fee is $25.00 if one or both of you live in Indiana and $65.00 if neither does. Some offices add a $4.00 document fee, and each certified copy is $4.00. Most counties require cash. The license is valid for 60 days, and you can marry the same day. You'll need ID and your Social Security number [7].
- Copies (statewide): certified copies of marriage licenses come from the clerk of the county where the license was issued, not from the state health department [22].
- Vanderburgh County Clerk: start online, then both of you finish together in person at Room S240, Civic Center Complex City/County Admin Building, 1 NW Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, between 7:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Monday–Friday. Bring a valid state ID or driver's license with your current address, a certified birth certificate, a passport or a military ID [5]. The Census Geocoder places the building in Evansville city [10].
- Who can apply here: couples where one person lives in Vanderburgh County and plans to marry in Indiana, or couples where neither lives in Indiana and they'll marry in Vanderburgh County [5].
- Fees: $25.00 if at least one of you lives in Vanderburgh County; $65.00 if both of you live out of state and marry in Vanderburgh County. The clerk takes cash, cashier's checks, money orders and credit cards (with a $1.50 convenience fee), but not personal checks. The license is void if you don't marry within 60 days [5].
- Copies: regular copies $1.00 each and certified copies $4.00 each; call (812) 435-5188 to have them ready for pickup [5]. Online orders through Official Records Online add a $10.00 convenience fee per transaction, plus extra for FedEx delivery [23].
Recorded documents (Vanderburgh County Recorder)
- Recording fees: $55.00 for mortgages and $25.00 for deeds and other documents, including UCCs (one oversize page included; $5.00 for each additional page larger than 8½ by 14 inches). Payment is cash, company checks or money order only [24].
- Copies: $1.00 a page (11 by 17 inches or smaller), $5.00 a page if larger, and $5.00 to certify a document [24].
- How to record: in person at Room 231 of the Civic Center Complex, 1 NW Martin Luther King Jr Blvd [24]; by mail to P.O. Box 1037, Evansville, IN 47706-1037, with a self-addressed stamped envelope; or electronically through an e-recording service, which charges its own fee. Copies of military discharges are free with photo ID [25].
- Format: pages that don't meet Indiana's format rules can still be recorded for an extra $1 a page [26].
Court records (Vanderburgh County Clerk)
- Copy fees: $1.00 a page and $3.00 per certification. To get copies by mail, pay in full first by cashier's check or money order and include a self-addressed stamped envelope [27].
- How to ask: submit the records request form by mail, fax or in person; the clerk says it will reply within 7 days [28].
- Two addresses: the records request page gives 825 Sycamore Street [28], while the marriage page gives Room S240, 1 NW Martin Luther King Jr Blvd [5]. Both addresses geocode to Evansville city [10]. Call (812) 435-5160 to check which office handles your request [28].
Apostilles and authentications (statewide)
- Fee (statewide): $2.00 per document from the Indiana Secretary of State. There's no fee for birth and death certificates, adoption documents, or student transcripts and diplomas [29][14]. Pay in person by credit, debit, check or money order, or by mail with a check or money order [29].
- One certificate (statewide): since July 1, 2022, Indiana uses a single certificate format and no longer tells apostilles and authentications apart. The certificates can't be used inside the United States [29].
- What it can authenticate (statewide): Indiana vital records only; marriage, divorce, death and birth certificates don't need notarization, but other documents do. A marriage license must first be certified by the current circuit court clerk of the county where the marriage took place. Federal documents go to the U.S. Department of State [29].
- Where (statewide): there's one office, at 302 W. Washington St., Room E-018, Indianapolis, IN 46204, with no branches. With an appointment it processes up to 10 documents while you wait; without one, up to 5. Phone (317) 234-9768 [29].
- Evansville note: the Vanderburgh County Health Department says long-form birth certificates for an apostille are available only by mail from the Indiana Department of Health [4]. The Secretary of State's only authentication office is in Indianapolis [29].
