Where to print, fax, notarize, apply for a passport and get certified copies in Salt Lake City, Utah, using only official and provider pages. Each fact links to its source. Some facts are statewide or national rather than local. We label those. Utah rules differ from Colorado's and Wyoming's in several places, and we point those out.
Printing, copying, scanning and fax: The City Library
| Service | What the library says |

| Scanning | Free: "There is no charge to scan and send documents to an email address, Google Docs, or save to a USB flash drive" [1]. |
| Fax | Free: "There is no charge for sending a fax," and the machines can send worldwide [1]. |

Notary in Salt Lake City
- Salt Lake County Clerk: the passport locator data says "photos, photocopy and notary services" are available on site at the clerk's office, 2001 S. State St., Suite S2-200 [5]. We didn't find a notary price on the clerk pages we checked.
- Library: we didn't find notary service on The City Library's pages [1].
- Utah fee limits (statewide): under Utah Code 46-1-12, a notary may charge at most $10 per signature for an acknowledgment or jurat, $10 per page for a certified copy, $10 per person for an oath or affirmation without a signature, and $10 for each signature witnessing. A remote notarization can cost up to $25. A travel fee, up to the federal mileage rate, is allowed only if the notary explains it and you agree in advance. Notaries must display an English-language fee schedule [15]. Utah's limit is per signature, unlike Wyoming's $10 per notarial act and Colorado's $15 per document.
- New rules (statewide): the Lieutenant Governor's office says S.B. 139 took effect May 6, 2026. It requires an unexpired ID as satisfactory evidence of identity, lets a credible witness who personally knows the signer vouch instead, and requires journals for new and renewing notaries [17]. The office's notary site has a "Find a Notary" search. Notary office: Utah State Capitol, 350 N State St., Suite 220, (801) 538-1041, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. [16].
- Banks (national policy): Bank of America says notary service is available "at no cost to our customers" and "in many of our financial centers." Schedule an appointment. All signers must be present [18]. For other banks, see free notary options.
- The UPS Store (example): its Salt Lake City page lists notarizing among its services, without prices [21]. Under state law the fee can't exceed the limits above [15].

Birth, death, marriage and recorded-document copies
Birth and death certificates: Salt Lake County Health Department
- Who issues them (statewide): the Utah Office of Vital Records and Statistics keeps Utah birth, stillbirth and death records from 1905 to the present. "In person orders can be placed at most Utah Local Health Departments" [13]. This differs from Wyoming, where we found only the state office, and is closer to Colorado's county public health counters.
- In person in Salt Lake City: Salt Lake Public Health Center, Vital Records Office, 610 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84111, 385-468-4230, Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. The county also has vital records offices in West Jordan and West Valley City. Bring the order form, ID, proof of relationship and payment. "We will process your order while you wait." The offices accept cash, check, money order, Visa and Mastercard [10].
- Fees: the county's order form lists a birth certificate at $25.00 for the first certified copy and a death certificate at $35.00, with additional copies $10.00 each if ordered at the same time [11]. These match the state fee schedule effective July 1, 2026 (statewide) [12].
- By mail from the county: add a $1.00 mailing fee and pay by check or money order to the Salt Lake County Health Department. Mailed orders can't be paid by credit card [10].
- Who can order (statewide): the person on the record, immediate family with proof of relationship, legal guardians or a legal representative. Birth records become public after 100 years, death records after 50 and marriage and divorce records after 75 [13]. The county lists parents, current or surviving spouse, siblings, children, grandparents and grandchildren as eligible relatives [9].
- From the state office (statewide): online and mail orders go to the state office. Its home page says it is "approximately 6 weeks out with both online orders and mail orders," and that third-party vendors are not authorized to order on behalf of certificate holders [14]. Online orders add a $4.00 convenience fee and a $2.00 identity verification fee; expedited processing is $25.00 [12].
Marriage records: Salt Lake County Clerk and the state
- Marriage license copies: the Salt Lake County Clerk's Marriage Division, 2001 South State Street, Suite S2 200, takes walk-in requests Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–5 p.m. for a certified copy of your own marriage license. Copies are $5.00 each, plus $3.00 shipping within the U.S. Payment: cash, check, Visa, AMEX, Mastercard or Discover. Licenses and ceremonies are by appointment [7]. We didn't find the marriage license fee on that page.
- State abstracts (statewide): the state office has marriage and divorce records only from 1978 to 2010; for other years, go to the county clerk (marriage) or the court (divorce) [13]. A marriage or divorce abstract is $25.00 [12].

More on certified copies: how to get a certified copy.

USPS money order fees are national: $2.65 for $0.01 to $500.00, and $3.75 for $500.01 to $1,000.00. Pay with cash or a debit card, not a credit card. The limit is $1,000 per domestic money order [20]. The State Department passport application fee must be paid by check or money order [4], and the county health department takes money orders for mailed certificate orders [10].
