Provo, Utah document errands: printing, fax, notary, passports and certified copies (2026)
Where to print, fax, notarize, apply for a passport and get certified copies in Provo, Utah, using only official and provider pages. Each fact links to its source. Some facts are statewide or national rather than local. We label those. Utah rules differ from Colorado's and Wyoming's in several places, and we point those out.
Printing, copying, scanning and fax
Provo City Library
| Service | What the library says |
|---|---|
| Printing | Black and white $0.10 per page, color $0.40 per page [1]. |
| Copying | The library has a color copier and says "Color printing is $0.40 per page" [2]. We didn't find a separate copy price on the library pages we checked. |
| Scanning | Free: the copy machines behind the 1st and 2nd floor reference desks can scan documents and send them to an email address. "Use of the scanner is free of charge" [2]. |
| Fax | Not offered: "Unfortunately, the Library does not provide fax services." The library lists nearby fax options at FedEx Office, 1774 N University Parkway; Staples, 971 S University Ave; and The UPS Store, 223 West Cougar Blvd [2]. |
| Wireless printing | Print from your own device by upload or email. Jobs expire when the library closes [1]. |
| Payment | The vending device takes nickels, dimes, quarters, $1 bills and $5 bills, and gives change in coins. A credit or debit card can be used for $1.00 or more. See a librarian to pay by card, or if your total is over $5.00 [1]. |
- Address and hours: 550 N. University Ave, Provo, UT 84601, (801) 852-6650. The library's hours listing for the week we checked showed Mon–Fri 9 a.m.–9 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.–6 p.m. and closed Sunday [4].
The UPS Store
The UPS Store #3977 at 3214 North University Ave (ZIP 84604), (801) 375-1700, lists color and black and white printing and copying, fax services (send and receive) and notary services among its services, and says notary hours are "Available 7 Days." Its page lists hours of Mon–Fri 8:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sun 10 a.m.–3 p.m. The store is locally owned and operated [20]. We didn't find prices on its page.

Notary in Provo
- Provo City Library: "limited, free notary services by appointment only." Walk-ins aren't taken. Call 801-852-6669. Hours are "usually Monday-Thursday 9:30 am-4:30 pm and Friday 9:30 am-12:00 pm." Bring unsigned documents and a current photo ID for every signer. The library's notaries can notarize only certified copies made by library staff [3].
- Provo City (311 Customer Service): Free general notary services at 445 W Center St, Provo, UT 84601, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. "No appointment necessary—walk-ins welcome!" Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID (for example a driver's license or passport) and the unsigned documents you need notarized. Phone 311 inside Provo city limits or (801) 852-6000 outside them [24]. The library's notary page also points walk-ins to City Hall [3]. We didn't find any residents-only rule or excluded document types on the city's page.
- The UPS Store: the 3214 North University Ave store lists notary service [20]. We didn't find its price.
- Utah fee limits (statewide): under Utah Code 46-1-12, a notary may charge at most $10 per signature for an acknowledgment or jurat, $10 per page for a certified copy, $10 per person for an oath or affirmation without a signature, and $10 for each signature witnessing. A remote notarization can cost up to $25. A travel fee, up to the federal mileage rate, is allowed only if the notary explains it and you agree in advance. Notaries must display an English-language fee schedule [14]. Utah's limit is per signature, unlike Wyoming's $10 per notarial act and Colorado's $15 per document.
- New rules (statewide): S.B. 139 took effect May 6, 2026. It requires an unexpired ID as satisfactory evidence of identity, lets a credible witness vouch instead, and requires journals for new and renewing notaries [16]. The Lieutenant Governor's notary site has a "Find a Notary" search [15].
- Banks (national policy): Bank of America says notary service is available "at no cost to our customers" and "in many of our financial centers." Schedule an appointment. All signers must be present [17]. For other banks, see free notary options.

- Utah County appointments: the locator says to call 801-851-8109 or book through the county's passport page [5]. The county page has a "Schedule Appointment" link [6].
- How to pay at the county: Department of State fees, including any expedite fee, must be paid by check or money order, one check per application, stapled to the application. The county's $35 execution fee and photo fee can be paid by cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express [6].
- What the county asks you to bring: a completed DS-11 (only the two pages with your information, each on its own sheet; black and white printing is fine), proof of citizenship and a government photo ID. If your ID is from another state, bring a second ID [6].
- Minors: under 16, both parents must come, or bring a notarized consent statement from the absent parent or evidence of sole custody. At 16 and 17, at least one parent must come [6].
- Emergencies (statewide): the county notes there is no passport agency office in Utah [6].
- Provo City details: "No Appointment Needed!" The city takes new applications (DS-11) only: "We cannot process renewals (DS-82) at Provo City. Renewals are done by mail." The Provo City acceptance fee is $35, payable by cash, check, money order, debit or credit card. The U.S. Department of State fee is sent with your application and can be paid by check, money order or cashier's check. Passport photos are $15 [23]. The city's page links to the State Department's fee chart rather than listing that fee.
- Post office fees (national): a $35.00 acceptance fee and a $15.00 photo fee "if needed" [18].
* The city's passport page gives application hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but the 311 contact block on the same page lists Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Plan on 5:30 p.m. for an application, or call 311 first [23].

Birth, death, marriage and recorded-document copies
Birth and death certificates: Utah County Health Department
- Who issues them (statewide): the Utah Office of Vital Records and Statistics keeps Utah birth and death records from 1905 to the present. "In person orders can be placed at most Utah Local Health Departments" [12]. Wyoming has only the state office for this; Utah's local counters are closer to Colorado's county public health offices.
- In person in Provo: Utah County Health Department, 151 South University Avenue, Suite 1100, Provo, UT 84601, 801-851-7005. Hours: Mon–Tue 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Wed 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Thu–Fri 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m., except holidays. This office takes counter and mail requests. The county asks you to fill out the request form before you arrive [10].
- Other Utah County counters: Saratoga Springs, 319 South Saratoga Road, and Payson, 285 North 1250 East, take counter requests only [10].
- Fees (statewide): a birth certificate is $25.00 for the first certified copy and a death certificate is $35.00, with additional copies $10.00 each if ordered at the same time, under the state fee schedule effective July 1, 2026 [11]. The county adds a 2.65% fee to credit card payments, with a $1.50 minimum [10].
- ID: you need ID to buy a Utah certificate. For a mailed request, send a clear, enlarged copy of the front of your ID. Requests without ID are sent back [10].
- State office (statewide): online and mail orders are "approximately 6 weeks out," and third-party vendors are not authorized to order for certificate holders [13].
Marriage records and recorded documents: Utah County
- Marriage licenses: the Utah County Clerk says "Most applicants pay $71.75 for the marriage license, including all fees." The base cost is $50, and online applicants who don't qualify for the Marriage Education Discount pay a $20 State Marriage Commission fee. A Clerk's Office ceremony is $35. You can apply online or in the office at 111 South University Avenue, where both applicants come together with photo IDs. Cards accepted are Visa, Mastercard and Discover; in-office applicants can also pay by cash or check [7].
- Timing (statewide rule): the clerk says Utah has no waiting period, and a license must be used within 32 days after it is issued [7].
- Copies: certified copies, corrections and apostille requests for Utah County licenses are ordered online. The clerk says apostilles typically take several weeks because the Lt. Governor's office has to process them [8]. We didn't find the certified copy price on that page.
- Marriage and divorce abstracts: the state office has marriage and divorce records only from 1978 to 2010 (statewide) [12], and an abstract is $25.00 [11]. The Utah County Health Department's page gives the range as 1978 to 2011 and says that, after 2011, the office has only Utah County records, through 2015 [10]. Ask which years are on file before you order.
- Recorder: recording is $40.00 per document, plus $2.00 for each description or unit over ten. A copy of a recorded document is $1.00 per page, and certification is $5.00. The office takes cash, check and card; cards carry a 2.65% fee with a $1.50 minimum (Visa debit cards excluded from the debit fee). Contact: 801-851-8179, recorder@utahcounty.gov [9].
More on certified copies: how to get a certified copy.
Money orders
USPS money order fees are national: $2.65 for $0.01 to $500.00, and $3.75 for $500.01 to $1,000.00. Pay with cash or a debit card, not a credit card. The limit is $1,000 per domestic money order [19]. We didn't find a Provo government office that sells money orders. Other sellers: money order guide.

- State Declutter Day: the Utah Division of Consumer Protection's 2026 Declutter Day, with free shredding for the public, was April 17, 2026, in Salt Lake City [22]. That date has passed.
