Kenosha, Wisconsin document errands: printing, fax, notary, passports and certified copies (2026)
Where to print, fax, notarize, apply for a passport and get certified copies in Kenosha, Wisconsin, using only official and provider pages. Each fact links to its source. Some facts are statewide or national rather than local. We label those.
Printing, copying, scanning and fax
Kenosha Public Library
- Locations: Northside, 1500 27th Ave; Simmons, 711 59th Pl; Southwest, 7979 38th Ave; and Uptown, 2419 63rd St. All share the phone number (262) 564-6100 [7]. The Census Geocoder places all 4 inside Kenosha city [4].
- Printing and copies: 15 cents a page for black and white and 25 cents for color. Every location offers black-and-white and color copying and printing, printing from USB, scanning to email or USB, and outgoing fax [1][8].
- Print from anywhere: send a job through the print portal at mykpl.info/eprintit, the ePRINTit SaaS app, or by emailing the file as an attachment (the library gives separate addresses for black-and-white and color). Then pick it up at the Print, Scan, Fax area of any location. Jobs are removed from ePRINTit after 24 hours [1].
- Fax: outgoing only, 25 cents a page with a free cover page, at Northside, Simmons, Southwest and Uptown. Simmons and Uptown send faxes from the photocopiers; Southwest and Northside use a scan station. Ask staff for help [1][8][9].
- Scanning: free, in black and white or color, to PDF, Word or JPEG files, up to 40 pages a minute, sent to a flash drive or email [8][9].
- The UPS Store: it lists 1 location with a Kenosha address: 4623 75th St, (262) 697-4310. Its city page says its stores offer packing, shipping, printing, shredding, notarizing, faxing and mailbox services [10]. We didn't find prices on the store page; The UPS Store's site says products, services, prices and hours may vary by location [11].
- Kenosha address, other municipality: the Census Geocoder places 4623 75th St in Pleasant Prairie village, not Kenosha city [10][4].

Notary in Kenosha
- Kenosha Public Library, free: notary service is free, but only at the library. An appointment is recommended; walk-ins may have to wait, and there's no notary service within 15 minutes of closing [2].
- What to bring: a valid photo ID with your signature, such as a driver's license or passport, and a document that's completely filled out except for the notary's part. If it needs witnesses, bring people who know you and have valid photo IDs. You'll sign the Notary Log [2].
- Limits: documents in languages other than English can't be notarized. Library notaries can't copy vital records such as birth or death certificates, take depositions, fill out papers, give legal advice or choose a certificate for you [2].
- The UPS Store: its Kenosha page lists notarizing [10].
- Fees (statewide): Wisconsin's Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) says a notary "may charge no more than $5 for most in-person notarial acts." Ask for the price before the notary starts [12].
- Statewide commission: DFI says a Wisconsin commission lets a notary act in all counties in the state [12].
- No copies of vital records (statewide): DFI tells notaries they are "strictly prohibited" from making copies, certified or uncertified, of birth, death, divorce, marriage and other vital records. Get certified copies from a state or county vital records office instead [12].
Passports in Kenosha
The U.S. Department of State's Passport Acceptance Facility Locator data lists 2 facilities with Kenosha addresses. The Census Geocoder places both inside Kenosha city [3][4]:
| Facility | Address and phone | Passport hours (locator) | Photos |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kenosha County Administration Building | 1010 56th St., Kenosha, WI 53140. 262-653-2552 | Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–3:45 p.m. | Listed as on site |
| Kenosha Main Post Office (USPS) | 5605 Sheridan Rd., Kenosha, WI 53140. 262-657-5955 | Mon–Fri 9 a.m.–2 p.m.; Sat 10 a.m.–2 p.m. | Listed as on site |
- Kenosha County Clerk: the locator says to book an appointment by calling 262-653-2552 or at kenoshacountyclerk.timetap.com, with appointments Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. [3]. The county charges the $35 acceptance fee, paid to the "County Clerk," separately from the State Department fee, and passport photos there are $12. The clerk takes cash, checks, money orders, and credit or debit cards with a convenience fee. The State Department payment can't be made in cash or by card [13].
- Kenosha County Clerk, $66.40 in the fee table: in the rows for the two-way Express Mail expedite options ("Expedite with Express Mail (two way)" and "Expedited Passport Book and Card (two-way return only applies to book)"), the County Clerk column shows $66.40 instead of $35. The page doesn't explain this, so confirm with the office [13].
- Kenosha County Clerk, appointments and photos: the County Clerk's passport page says applications are by appointment, Monday–Friday. Passport photos ($12) don't need an appointment, and the office doesn't process adult renewals. Call 262-653-2552 [14]. Its First Time Applicants sheet lists hours of Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. [15], while the locator lists appointments until 3:45 p.m. [3]. Confirm with the office.
- Post office: the locator says to book passport appointments, or see more passport times, at usps.com/scheduler [3].
- Post office fees (national): a $35.00 acceptance fee and a $15.00 photo fee "if needed" [16].
- Faster return delivery (national): two official pages list different prices. USPS lists "$22.05—1- to 3- day delivery service for faster return shipping to you from the State Department" [16]. The State Department's fee page lists 1–3 business day return delivery at $26.87, for passport books only [17]. We couldn't re-read the State Department page on Oct 31, 2026, because it blocked our check. Confirm the fee with the acceptance facility before you pay.

Birth, death, marriage, court and recorded-document copies
Birth, death, marriage and divorce records (statewide rules)
- Who issues them (statewide): the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) says Wisconsin birth, death, marriage and divorce records from October 1907 to now are available from the Wisconsin Vital Records Office, and also through any Wisconsin county Register of Deeds office. Availability depends on the event type and date [18].
- Fees (statewide): $20 for the first copy of each record and $3 for each additional copy of the same record [18]. State law sets the same $20 and $3 fees [19]. DHS says the long form birth certificate doesn't cost extra; write "Long Form" on the application [18].
- Who can get a certified copy: state law limits who can get one; an uncertified copy is printed on plain paper and stamped as not usable for legal or identification purposes [18].
- State office by mail: Wisconsin Vital Records Office, PO Box 309, Madison, WI 53701. It takes about 10 business days after the office gets your order, plus mail time. Pay by cash, check or money order in U.S. funds [18].
- Online and phone: through VitalChek, online or at 877-885-2981; there is a fee for using VitalChek, and requests take about five business days [18].
Kenosha County Register of Deeds
- Where and when: Register of Deeds Office, 1010 56th Street, Kenosha. Vital requests are processed Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The Kenosha County Center at 19600 75th Street in Bristol, outside the city, has the same hours but closes from noon to 1 p.m. Questions: (262) 653-2444 [20]. The Census Geocoder places 1010 56th Street inside Kenosha city [4].
- Fees: $20 for the first copy and $3 for each additional copy ordered at the same time [20]. That matches the statewide fee [18].
- Which records: the office holds records for events in Kenosha County, and can issue statewide records for births and marriages from October 1, 1907, deaths from September 1, 2013 and divorces from January 1, 2016 [20].
- By mail: include a self-addressed stamped envelope and a money order. No personal checks. VitalChek Express adds its own processing fees [20].
- Don't copy them: the county says it's illegal for anyone, including you, to copy your vital records [20].
Marriage licenses
- Marriage licenses (statewide law): in Wisconsin the county clerk issues marriage licenses. A license can't be issued within 3 days of the application unless the clerk, at its discretion, issues it sooner for an added fee of up to $25. Each applicant must show a certified copy of a birth record, or one of the other documents the law allows, and swear to the application before the clerk. State law sets the county clerk's fee for each license at $49.50; that is the statutory clerk fee, not necessarily the full price a county charges [21].
- Kenosha County Clerk: book with the online appointment scheduler or call 262-653-2552. Walk-ins are welcome at the downtown office, 1010 56th St. Applications at the Kenosha County Center in Bristol are by appointment only, 262-857-1845 [5].
- Downtown hours (the page differs): the county's marriage page says walk-ins are welcome Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., and the same page lists marriage license application hours of Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. [5]. Confirm with the office.
- Price: $110 in cash or $114.50 by debit or credit card, paid when you apply [5].
- Birth certificate first: if you need a certified birth certificate from the Kenosha County Register of Deeds, schedule that separately before your marriage license appointment. Bring all required documents and your officiant's contact information [5].
- Courthouse weddings: call Circuit Court at 262-653-2465 before you book with the County Clerk; the clerk doesn't schedule weddings [5].
Recorded documents and court copies
- Recording fees (statewide law): Wisconsin law sets the register of deeds fee for recording a document at $30. Copies of recorded documents are $2 for the first page and $1 for each additional page, plus $1 to certify a copy [22].
- Court copies (statewide fee table): the Wisconsin court system lists Clerk of Circuit Court copies at $1.25 a page, and certified copies at $5 to certify the document plus $1.25 a page [23].
- Kenosha County: we didn't check the Register of Deeds' real estate fee page or the Clerk of Circuit Court's copy fees.
Apostilles (statewide)
- Two state offices: both the Wisconsin Secretary of State (SOS) and DFI can issue apostilles for Hague Convention countries. Authentications for countries outside the Hague Convention come only from the SOS [24].
- DFI: standard service is $10 per document (3–7 business days) and expedited is $35 per document (1–2 business days), not counting mail time. DFI, 4822 Madison Yards Way, North Tower, Madison, WI 53705; (608) 266-8915 [25].
- Secretary of State: standard service is $10 per document (an estimated 7–20 days from when the office gets the documents) and expedited is $35 per document (2–4 business days). Walk-in expedited service is generally available the same day at the office on the basement level of the State Capitol in Madison. It accepts card, cash, check or money order [24].
- Notarized documents: the SOS accepts only wet-ink stamped or embossed notarizations by a Wisconsin notary, not electronic ones. It can't process federal documents or vital records from another state or country [24].
More on certified copies: how to get a certified copy.
Money orders
USPS money order fees are national: $2.65 for $0.01 to $500.00, and $3.75 for $500.01 to $1,000.00. Pay with cash or a debit card, not a credit card. The limit is $1,000 per domestic money order [26]. Other sellers: money order guide.
Shredding
- Free shred events: we didn't find an upcoming city or county shred event on official pages.
- The UPS Store: its Kenosha page lists shredding [10]. We didn't find prices.
For paid per-pound shredding, see where to shred documents.
