Printing, copying, scanning and fax
Middle Georgia Regional Library (Bibb County branches)
- Printing and copying prices: Bibb County branches charge $0.20 a page for black-and-white copies and $0.40 a page for full-color copies [1].
- Scanning: the library's pricing list shows "Scanning Services: $1 per 25 pages" right after the Baldwin County prices, so it's unclear whether that price applies in Bibb County; ask your branch [1].
- Fax: every library location except Lake Sinclair, East Wilkinson and Gordon (none in Bibb County) can send faxes but not receive them. You pay by credit card, and the library says to contact your branch for prices [2].
- Computers: all branches have public computers with Microsoft Office or equivalent, with two one-hour sessions a day [11].
- Washington Memorial Library: 1180 Washington Avenue, (478) 300-6744. The main library is open Monday–Thursday 9 a.m.–8 p.m. and Friday–Saturday 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; Sunday is "Open Access only," 1–5 p.m. [12]. Computer lab hours differ between pages: the library's hours page lists Monday–Thursday 9 a.m.–7:45 p.m. and Friday–Saturday 9 a.m.–5:45 p.m. [12], while the computer access page lists Monday–Thursday 9 a.m.–8:45 p.m. and Friday–Saturday 9 a.m.–5:45 p.m. [11]. The Census Geocoder places the library in Macon-Bibb County [8].
- Superior Court Clerk: the cost schedule effective July 1, 2024, posted by the Clerk, lists faxed or electronic copies at $2.50 for the first page and $1.00 for each page after [13].
- The UPS Store: its Macon page lists 5 open stores and 1 "coming soon" at 1530 Mercer University Dr. It says its stores offer packing, shipping, printing, shredding, notarizing, faxing and mailbox services [14]. The Census Geocoder places all 5 open stores in Macon-Bibb County [8]. Prices aren't listed online: the 3780 Northside Dr store page shows no prices and says products, services, pricing and hours may vary by location [15], so call the store for prices (last checked Nov 3, 2026).
See printing prices and fax prices.
Notary in Macon
- Library (free): notary service is free at select library locations "during most business hours." In Bibb County the library lists Washington Memorial (1180 Washington Avenue), the Library Annex at Macon Mall (3661 Eisenhower Pkwy, Suite #103), Bloomfield, Shurling and Cathy Ivey Community libraries. Call the branch first to make sure a notary is there; appointments are encouraged. Bring your own witnesses, since library staff can't be witnesses, and every signer needs a valid photo ID [2].
- What the library won't notarize: pre-signed or dated documents, deeds, mortgages, wills, powers of attorney, living wills and living trusts, among others on its list [2].
- The UPS Store: its Macon page lists notarizing [14]. Prices aren't listed online; call the store [15]. Notary rules vary by state [16].
- Becoming a notary (Bibb County): the Clerk's cost schedule lists a new notary certificate and a renewal at $55.00 each and a certificate of authority at $2.00 [13]. Since April 20, 2020, the Clerk has accepted mail-in renewals: you fill out the renewal on the GSCCCA's Georgia Notary Online Application, authorize payment, print it and mail it to the Clerk [17].
- How notaries are appointed (statewide): Georgia notaries are commissioned for a four-year term by the Clerk of Superior Court in the county where they live; residents of neighboring states who work or own a business in Georgia can apply in that county. Applicants must be at least 18 and complete the notary training course. The appointment fee is $40.00–$55.00 depending on the county. A Georgia notary can act anywhere in the state [18].
- Fees (statewide): the GSCCCA's summary of Georgia notary law says the authorized fee is $2.00 for each notarial act. On request, a notary may charge $2.00 more for a certificate from the Clerk of Superior Court showing the commission is in effect. A notary doesn't have to charge, but must tell you beforehand if there's a fee and the amount allowed by law [19].
- Journal (statewide): since January 1, 2025, a notary must keep a written or electronic journal entry for each notarial act done for a self-filer [19].
- The law itself (statewide): Georgia notary law is Title 45, Chapter 17 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated: Article 1 (§§ 45-17-1 to 45-17-20) and Article 2 (§§ 45-17-30 to 45-17-34). Under § 45-17-11, the fee is $2.00 for administering an oath, $2.00 for each attendance to make proof and certifying it, and $2.00 for every other certificate, and a notary can't charge more than $4.00 for each service. A notary doesn't have to charge, but must tell you the permitted fees before acting. Under § 45-17-5, a commission lasts four years, and the clerk of superior court can renew it for another four [20].
- Check a notary (statewide): the GSCCCA keeps the statewide notary database and has an online Notary Public Search Index. Its Notary Division phone is 404-327-6023 [18].

We didn't find a photo price or passport hours on that page [21]. The locator lists the office at Room 216 with passport hours of Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. [5]. The county's March 15, 2018, announcement put passports in Suite 216, Monday–Thursday 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. [22]. Call before you go.
- Photos: the locator lists photos at both the Clerk and the Main Post Office [5]. We didn't find the Clerk's photo price. USPS lists a $15.00 photo fee nationally [23].

- Post office fees (national): a $35.00 acceptance fee and a $15.00 photo fee "if needed" [23].
- Faster return delivery (national): two official pages list different prices. USPS lists "$22.05—1- to 3- day delivery service for faster return shipping to you from the State Department" [23]. The State Department's fee page lists 1–3 business day return delivery at $26.87, for passport books only [24]. We couldn't re-read the State Department page on Nov 3, 2026, because it blocked our check. Confirm the fee with the acceptance facility before you pay.

Birth, death, marriage, court and recorded-document copies
Birth and death certificates (Macon-Bibb County Health Department)
- Where and when: Vital Records, 1600 Forsyth St., Macon, GA 31201; phone 478-749-0102 [3][25]. Vital Records hours are Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4 p.m., and health department offices close on all state-observed holidays [26]. The Census Geocoder places it in Macon-Bibb County [8].
- Fees and ID: a $25 search fee for each certified copy request, and $5 for each extra copy of the same record ordered at the same time. Bring a valid state-issued photo ID [3]. That matches the state fee schedule [27].
Birth and death certificates from the state (statewide)
- State fees (statewide): birth and death certificates are $25.00 each, plus $5.00 for each additional copy. Marriage certificates are $10.00 plus $5.00 for additional copies, and amendments are $10.00 plus the cost of the certificate [27].
- Payment (statewide): credit or debit cards at walk-in service or online, cash at walk-in service only, certified checks and money orders. Personal checks aren't accepted [27].
- Who can get one (statewide): certified birth and death certificates go only to people with a direct and tangible interest, such as immediate family members or legal representatives of the family [28][29]. Georgia.gov says only the registrant, an immediate family member or a legal representative can request one [10].
- Older births (statewide): the State Office of Vital Records has births from January 1919 on. For older births, contact the county where the birth happened or the Georgia Archives [28].
- In person (statewide): for same-day service, visit the State Office of Vital Records, 1680 Phoenix Boulevard, Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30349, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Monday–Friday except state holidays, or any county vital records office [10]. The state works with 159 county offices [30]. Georgia Vital Records doesn't do same-day cruise rush requests [28].
- By mail (statewide): mail the request form and payment to the State Office of Vital Records at the Phoenix Boulevard address. Georgia.gov gives a response time of 8–10 weeks [10], and the Department of Public Health says 8 to 10 weeks for mail-in death certificate requests [29].
- Online (statewide; pages differ on timing): the state's ROVER service charges $25 per certified copy plus $8 for processing. FedEx shipping is $16 per order and speeds up delivery only; the Department of Public Health says standard processing takes up to 10 weeks [31]. Georgia.gov gives an online response time of 2–4 weeks, or up to 5 business days for expedited orders, and lists ROVER, GO Certificates and VitalChek [10]. Ask the office which timing applies before you order.
- Divorce records (statewide): the Clerk of Superior Court in the county where the divorce was granted holds the copies [10].
Marriage licenses (Bibb County Probate Court)
- Who issues licenses (statewide): county probate courts. You must be at least 18, or 17 if certain conditions are met. If at least one of you lives in Georgia, any county's probate court can issue the license; if neither does, you must apply in the county where the ceremony will be. Both of you must be present [9].
- After the ceremony (statewide): the signed license should go back to the probate court within 30 days of the ceremony, and the certificate typically arrives by mail within 30 days [9].
- Older copies (statewide): the State Office of Vital Records holds marriage applications and certificates from June 1952 to August 1996, with a non-refundable $10.00 search fee and $5.00 for each additional copy. Records outside those years are at the probate court of the county that issued the license [32].
- Bibb County fee: $77, or $37 with a certificate of premarital counseling: at least six hours, taken together, within 12 months before you apply. Card payments carry a 4.7% convenience fee, and $50 and $100 bills aren't accepted. Pay by cash, money order, debit card, MasterCard or Visa; all fees are non-refundable [4].
- When and how: start online at georgiaprobaterecords.com to get a confirmation number, then schedule an appointment. Both of you must be there. License hours are Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; arrive before 4 p.m., and no payments are accepted after 4:30 p.m. The license doesn't expire [4]. The court is at 601 Mulberry Street, Second Floor, and its contact page lists office hours of Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m.; License Division (478) 621-6493 [33]. The court doesn't provide officiants [4].
- Copies: once the license is recorded, you can get a certified copy: $10 at a scheduled in-person visit (money order, cash, debit or credit card) or $11 by mail (money order only) to Bibb County Probate Court, P.O. Box 6518, Macon, GA 31208, with both names and the ceremony date [4]. The page doesn't say that a copy comes with the license.
Recorded documents (Bibb County Superior Court Clerk)
- State law (statewide): under § 15-6-77 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, filing each instrument pertaining to real estate, including deeds, is $25.00; maps or plats are $10.00 a page; and recording any instrument not otherwise specified is $5.00 for the first page plus $2.00 for each page after [20]. The county's posted fees follow; if they differ from the statute, ask the Clerk which applies.
- Bibb County fees: the Clerk's posted cost schedule (effective July 1, 2024; revised May 17, 2024) lists deeds or any instrument pertaining to real estate at $25.00; plats, maps and condominium floor plans at $10.00; and "All Other Recording" at $5.00 for the first page and $2.00 for each page after [13].
- Where: Bibb County Courthouse, 601 Mulberry Street [21]. We didn't find the Clerk's main office suite, phone or general office hours on the pages we read. The "601 Mulberry Street, Suite 216" block with phone (478) 621-6527 at the bottom of the Clerk's pages sits under a "District Attorney Office" heading on the Clerk's home page [34], so we don't list it as the Clerk's office. The Census Geocoder places the courthouse in Macon-Bibb County [8].
Court and real estate record copies (Bibb County Clerk)
- State law (statewide): § 15-6-77 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated sets Superior Court clerk fees. Uncertified copies are $0.50 a page, or $1.00 if the clerk helps. Certifying a record is $2.50 for the first page plus $0.50 for each page after. The clerk's certificate and the court's seal are $1.00 each. Issuing a notary's certificate of appointment or reappointment is $20.00. The latest amendment shown is Ga. L. 2024, SB 19, effective January 1, 2025; no 2025 or 2026 amendment is listed [20].
- Statute and county totals (statewide): those are the clerk's fees under § 15-6-77, which also allows fees set by other general laws [20]. Totals posted elsewhere, such as the GSCCCA's $40.00–$55.00 notary appointment range [18], are higher than the $20.00 certificate fee, and we didn't find a source that itemizes the difference. The county's posted fees follow; if they differ from the statute, ask the Clerk which applies.
- Copy fees: uncertified copies are $0.50 a page without help or $1.00 a page with help. Certified or exemplified copies are $2.50 for the first page plus $0.50 for each page after, and computer printouts are $2.50 a page [13].
Apostilles and other certifications (statewide)
- Who issues them (statewide): the Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority (GSCCCA) is the only state agency that issues apostilles for Georgia documents, and Atlanta is its only location. For countries outside the Apostille Convention, the Georgia Secretary of State issues a Great Seal Certification instead (404-656-2871) [35].
- Fees (statewide): $3.00 per document for an apostille. A certification of notary public, for documents used in the U.S., is $2.00 per document [35].
- What it takes (statewide): birth, death and marriage certificates, divorce decrees and court documents must be official certified copies signed and sealed by the issuing Georgia official. Notarized documents don't need a county certification first. Out-of-state and federal documents go elsewhere [35].
- Walk-in (statewide): 1875 Century Blvd., Ste. 100, Atlanta, GA 30345, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Monday–Friday, no appointment needed; it typically takes less than 20 minutes. Pay by cash, a check with a pre-printed name and address payable to GSCCCA, a money order or credit card [35].
- By mail (statewide): GSCCCA, Attn: Notary Division, at the same address. Include a cover letter naming the destination country and a prepaid, self-addressed envelope or airbill; processing normally takes one to two business days. Contact notary@gsccca.org, 404-327-6023 or 800-304-5175 [35].
